Great Britain during the first world war until the second one, 1914-1939
During the first world war, Great Britain lost a lot of soldiers in the battles that took place. This was not a good thing for the economy, or for anything else for the matter, but the economy really took a blow. Britain and Scotland got quite poor, and in the time after the war, the british had to restore their previous lives.

World war two 1939-1945
The time during world war two was even messier and more catastrophic than earlier on. Great Britain declared war on Germany together with their ally France. During history Britain and Scotland have always thought that they have to get involved in as many wars as possible, at least it seems so to me. I get the presumption that Great Britain has taken the roll as the big and pompous father in Europe and that they feel like they need to be in control all the time. To me it feels rather silly, but perhaps it is a good strategy for them.
Modern Britain 1945
The era that is Modern Britain started with loads of political issues. The british people wanted change, and the parliament made several reforms. A woman called Marget Thacher, who is often referred to as the iron lady, got very popular during these reforms, and she even became the prime minister.
At the moment, Great Britain is quite peaceful, but they are still involved in several wars. For example, there is approximately four thousand British soldiers in Afghanistan at the moment, and not long ago, Britain sent almost fifty thousand soldiers to Iraq. They still seem to keep that parental roll in the world.
